Filosofie in straattaal

Filosofie in blaattaal

Filosofie in straattaal

Philosophy, Bro!
HOLY SHIT FUCK ME, it feels like my eyeballs are going to explode. I barely remember shit and I lost my phone, I blew the entire Spring Break budget in one night
and all I have to show for it is this fucking terrible hangover. […]This isn’t my fault. I thought that dude was world’s greatest lacrosse player and my personal hero Paul Rabil, and anyone would have done what I did in that position. Once I thought I was hanging out with the highest-paid lacrosse player in the world, I obviously assumed he’d pay for all those drinks – that’s how beliefs work. You believe some shit to begin with and then build other beliefs on top of that. If you don’t start out with a firm foundation, the whole structure is going to be just a disaster of half-truths and bad guesses. My mistake wasn’t partying too hard, my mistake was partying for the wrong reasons.
Ugh, here’s a terrible thought: what if I’m wrong about other shit, too?

Some years ago I was struck by how many false things I had believed, and by how doubtful was the structure of beliefs that I had based on them. I realized that if I wanted to establish anything in the sciences that was stable and likely to last, I needed – just once in my life – to demolish everything completely and start again from the foundations.
